About Me
I have been divorced twice!
My first divorce was many, many years
ago. We were high-school sweethearts that decided to get married for
all the wrong reasons. The marriage only lasted three years. We had
no money, no property, and no children. We both grew in separate directions
and soon realized that our original high-school views had changed substantially.
It was traumatic at the time but in hindsight, all these years later,
I can see that it was not a big deal.
Soon after my first breakup, I met
a wonderful person and started another relationship which led to marriage
#2. Almost twenty years later, the "wonderful person" announced
she was leaving for no apparent reason to me. This time was different.
We had two great
teenagers, one away at university and one in high-school. And a nice
home on two acres of property in a neighbourhood of close friends.
I was devastated and scoured the
bookstores and the internet for anything that would help me explain
why this had happened. After a few months of forums, some serious soul-searching,
visits to counsellers and talking to friends, I began to come to grips
with the experiences I was going through..
Four years later, I have decided
to put together a site of resources for those going through a similar
situation. There is lots of good stuff out there on how to save a marriage
(I tried it all) and information on the nuts and bolts of divorce;
during and after, But hopefully this site will provide a variety of
peoples' experiences on beginning life
again.
And
it
seems that lots of people make the same mistakes as they start over.
Originally,
it
was
going
to be a site for those who have gone through divorces at midlife, but
I decided to make it more general at the last minute.
Three years ago, I remarried. I have taken up
motorcycling, much to the chagrin of my children. Over the past five years, we have criss-crossed Canada and the U.S. several times and racked up over 60,000km on our Kawasaki Nomad. I am having a great time, again..
We have been living and working in central China for the last two years and loving every minute of life. Our plans for the future involve more traveling and more living life to the fullest.
I hope the information and links
available on this site will help YOU to find YOUR life after divorce.
